We have a fantastic opportunity within our Infrastructure business for an ambitious and talented Senior Design Manager

This is a exciting senior role on a major power upgrade project in the Shetlands

About you –

·       Ability to work in a team environment contributing across a business unit or area.

·       Good management skills, with the ability to motivate employees to achieve high standards of compliance.

·       Excellent organisational, planning and time management skills; able to manage projects simultaneously without compromising on standards and quality.

·       Sound knowledge of the civil engineering industry.

·       Ability to ensure standards and specifications are met.

·       Ability to work with senior management to set project and operational targets.

·       Excellent negotiation and diplomacy skills and the ability to make a sound business case to senior stakeholders.

 

About the role –

·       Management of the full design process for the Gremista UGC and Substation projects. 

·       Management of the consultants and the management of the flow of information to and from them and to the customer and subcontractors. 

·       Checking the design for constructability via the operations team before final submission. Management of the design programme and liaison with the project’s planners to assist in the production of monthly programmes

·       Ensuring that design packages are tracked so that overall design progress can be accurately obtained.

 

About the Qualifications –

·       Minimum of BEng in Civil or Structural Engineering

·       Ideally Chartered Engineer or equivalent

·       Five to ten years design management experience with some of that ideally in the power sector but especially in the civil engineering aspect of infrastructure

·       Collaborative Design software experience e,g, Viewpoint for Projects

 

 

Typical Activities –

·       Design review and management

·       Liaising with and setting deadlines for the design consultants

·       Managing the flow of information through relevant softwares

·       Meeting with operations to check the design for constructability

·       Final submission of designs to the client via relevant portals

·       Checking the design programme and production of monthly programmes

·       Tracking design packages on relevant software
