The role:

Responsible for the management of delivery of all aspects of Physical, Personnel and Information Security for the business and the production of the Security Plans setting the required security standards necessary within contracts that deal with classified information.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance to the relevant government, regulatory and industry standards including information security, document management, access control and cyber security on specific projects & programs of work
  • Develop and implement of an overarching security plan for the Nuclear Sector and program/project specific plans where required, including the implementation of policies and processes to maintain a safe secure working environment.
  • Maintain a database of security incidents and outputs from investigations to ensure wider learning across projects
  • Responsible for the oversight of site access process for all personnel onto nuclear and MOD sites and supply chain ensuring applications are dealt with in an expeditious manner preventing delay to program
  • Maintain and manage the issue of Security Aspects Letters to the supply chain where required – ensuring compliance with the terms conditions as outlined
  • Where applicable maintain daily liaison with security representatives from other partner(s) within the project(s).
  • Deliver and manage a system for (a) Prevention of unauthorised access to work locations (b) the prevention and detection of crime, and (c) all crime and security related issues.
  • Supervise and audit performance of any external Companies with regard to their compliance with client and regulatory requirements.
  • Advise on, formulation and implementation of corporate and local worksite plans in respect of Emergency and Security responses.
  • Contribute to pre-contract information for specific tenders
  • Provide heightened quality and strict management of access/egress control to all sites, and especially those within or adjacent to areas of a recognised permanent terrorist threat.
  • Provide a main point of contact with law enforcement and other emergency services, as well as other interested parties, e.g. project security partner, local authority departments etc.
  • Ensure the protection of all assets of the Project(s), Mains Works Contractors and sub-contractors where necessary and the investigation of matters of theft, fraud, damage, loss or non-accidental injury committed against those parties and their staff where appropriate.
  • Responsible for personnel vetting, vetting aftercare, pass applications, issue of passes, and maintenance of records of issue, withdrawal or suspension. Ensure the appropriate screening of employees, contractors and sub-contractors and their staff, those in sensitive areas, is undertaken.
  • Responsible for the implementation of security measures for the protection of sensitive information in line with HMG Security Policy Framework, the reporting and investigation of information security breaches to the relevant authorities and implementation of preventative measures.
  • Submission of a security briefing on a regular basis to the Senior Management and/or other appropriate personnel on matters of note.
  • Co-ordinate and direct security response during security or emergency incidents within the area of responsibility of the Project(s).
  • Conduct regular Security Risk Assessments, review and monitoring of security standards and arrangements including random checks.
  • Provision and delivery of training relating to all aspects of security including project specific training
  • Investigate crime affecting any of the worksites and parties associated with the Project(s) at the worksite in question. 

Requirements:

  • Degree level qualification in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge and understanding of information security legislation & HMG Security Policy Framework
  • Industry recognised qualification (such as DISA) relating to – The role of the Security Controller, security vetting & information security or equivalent training, knowledge and experience  
  • Good working Knowledge and experience relating to personnel security vetting and vetting aftercare
  • Proven Investigation skills and experience in a senior role, including interview skills and wiring if investigation reports
  • Member of DISA (Defence Industry Security Association) preferred
  • Industry experience in a similar role at senior level
  • Internal auditor qualification or equivalent experience
  • Strategic orientation with ability to act tactically, as required
  • Understanding of incidents of crime to allow the competent presentation, analysis, monitoring and preparation of statistics to identify trends and strategies for improvement.
  • To maintain good working relationships with applicable stakeholders and external bodies such as Government Agencies (Police, UKSV, ONR, MOD,NDA)
