Are you an experienced and skilled Estimator seeking a new challenge in the construction industry? Morgan Sindall, a leading construction and infrastructure company, is currently seeking a talented Senior Estimator to join our team. As a Senior Estimator, you will play a crucial role in supporting our pre-construction team to secure projects through competitive design and build tenders for both new build and refurbishment projects. Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the bid team to meet deadlines and achieve project objectives.
- Utilise your expertise to obtain competitive quotes based on current market trends.
- Identify and report on risks, opportunities, and scope for tender projects.
- Produce accurate net estimates in line with Morgan Sindall standards to secure work.
- Prepare precise and competitive estimates and cost plans.
- Interpret and represent benchmark data effectively.
- Assess tender documentation and communicate findings to the team.
- Develop and monitor tender strategies for successful project acquisition.
- Ensure all necessary supplementary information is in place.
- Demonstrate full working knowledge of estimating software systems and ensure upgrades are implemented.
- Adhere to Morgan Sindall's estimating procedures and standards.
- Stay updated with current health and safety requirements and changes.
- Apply and monitor the risk register throughout the tender process.
- Encourage innovation and optimal solutions within the team.
- Effectively communicate bid strategies and solutions to the construction team.
- Gather feedback from the construction team and utilise it for continuous improvement.
- Stay informed about industry changes and innovations.
- Continuously develop your own skill set to stay at the forefront of your profession.
- Identify customer needs and build strong, professional relationships with customers and suppliers.
- Attend post-tender negotiations and potentially take on additional responsibilities.
- Prepare submission documents and develop tender strategies.
- Foster an appreciation and understanding of business development.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Minimum qualification of HNC standard.
- Proficiency in taking-off quantities.
- Experience using Conquest estimating software.
- Strong Excel reporting capabilities.
- Knowledge and experience in cost planning.
- Familiarity with construction technology and innovative techniques.
- Ability to work effectively in a team and contribute across a business unit or area.
- Good management skills, capable of motivating employees to achieve high compliance standards.
- Excellent organisational, planning, and time management skills, allowing you to manage multiple projects without compromising on quality.
- Sound understanding of the construction industry.
- Ability to ensure adherence to standards and specifications.
- Capacity to collaborate with senior management and set project and operational targets.
- Outstanding negotiation and diplomacy skills, with the ability to make compelling business cases to senior stakeholders.
