Job description

As a Project/Construction Engineer, your main responsibility will be for the development and implementation of safe and efficient installation methodologies and in ensuring that completed installations meet the defined functionality criteria ready to be commissioned.

You will also support the MEICA scope owner in project engineering and contractor management activities.

You will be aligned to the Engineering Function (MEICA), mobilised as part of a project delivery team with responsibility to support a discipline or scope of work within a multidisciplinary construction project on behalf of the operations/project lead. You will be responsible for delivering the assigned scope through agreed phases of the project life cycle to reach successful completion, delivering work that meets legislative and project requirements in accordance with Morgan Sindall standards all whilst meeting customer satisfaction criteria.

  • Create a resource plan for an unfamiliar or potentially complex project, managing others to implement effective planning, problem-solving and decision making whilst understand the resource implications on the business plan.
  • Collect and collate information on the reality of the situation and options open to you, knowing how to create a position and build a winnable case whilst anticipating the needs and concerns of others.
  • Grow a team that is aligned with the business objectives, understanding strengths and weaknesses of team members and working with them to good effect whilst understanding their ambitions and manage expectations using a wide range of development tools.
  • Coach and mentor others on the benefits of collaborative relationships.

 

Requirements

  • Level 6 Bachelor of Engineering degree, class 2:1 or above in a mechanical engineering related course, ideally accredited by a professional engineering institution such as IMechE, IET, IChemE, CIBSE or similar.
  • An alternative Level 4, mechanical engineering related qualification with relevant experience and CPD training will also be considered.
  • Specific training and experience in your primary engineering discipline and ideally for wider discipline and functional understanding and appreciation required to participate in and manage a multi-disciplined team.
  • You will be able to provide demonstrable experience in product delivery and Mechanical engineering through design, procurement, manufacturing, installation, testing, commissioning and setting to work stages for machine installation, pipework, HVAC and electrical systems.
