You will be given exposure to the below and much more 

  • Administration of contracts 
  • Producing construction forecasts for the works 
  • Producing applications for payment 
  • Producing and maintaining accurate records of works undertaken 
  • Establishing quantities from construction drawings 
  • Using the quality management and assurance systems available, manage, monitor and contribute contributing to the delivery and implementation of civil engineering projects to specification, budget and agreed targets, respecting the need for the security of data and information 
  • Communicating and liaising effectively with own project team, customers, internal or external stakeholders 
  • Work reliably and effectively independently and as a member of a team, taking responsibility for their own work 
  • Ensure compliance with equality, diversity & inclusion (EDI) and ethical standards 

Alongside the day-to-day role, you’ll attend college on block release to attend the Nottingham campus, accommodation and travel will be provided,to develop your technical knowledge and skills and learn from others in the industry. 

About the Role 

A Quantity Surveyor is responsible is the financial linchpin of any construction and infrastructure job. You'll become an expert at precisely costing projects from conception through completion, while ensuring each project meets all legal and quality requirements. 

As a Quantity Surveyor, you'll be involved from the very start - consulting with the client and contractors on preliminary cost analysis. Once construction begins, you'll monitor ongoing expenses, identify potential savings for the client, and produce regular progress reports. 

As a Trainee Quantity Surveyor will assist and support in the day-to-day financial control, reporting and commercial performance management of one or more projects from award up to final account.

What are we looking for?

  • Applicants for this course will also need to meet the standard BSc (Hons) Quantity Surveying and Commercial Management FT/SW entry qualifications: 

Essential Criteria 

  • A Levels – BBB; or 
  • BTEC Extended Diploma – DDM; or 
  • 120 UCAS Tariff points from three A-levels or equivalent qualifications; and 
  • GCSEs – English and Maths grade C / 4 

Desirable Criteria 

  • Understanding of engineering and construction principles 
  • Commercial awareness 
  • Proficiency with technology and surveying software 
  • Project management capabilities

We have extensive experience in upgrading and replacing energy networks, delivering asset management for major UK energy companies and network operators.

Study Start Date(s): January 2025 

Duration: Five years, plus additional 6-12 months for end point assessment 

Study Mode(s): Part-time / block release – this means you would have off-the-job training in ‘blocks’ of a week or more. 

Providing you with more opportunities, the course will require block release to attend the Nottingham campus, accommodation and travel will be provided. 

Location of apprenticeship –  Warrington

Working Hours – 45 hours per week 

Working week – Monday – Friday 

Salary - £12.91 per hour
