Senior Project Engineer (Civils) 

Location: Clyde 

Joining the project at Concept Design stage, you will be required to influence the development of engineering solutions for a new build, multi-discipline, Nuclear Safety Implicated facility. You will collaborate with a multi-functional project delivery team and interface with external stakeholders including end-user client representatives, partner designer, sub-designers / consultants as well as our own supply chain to influence the development of design solutions which optimally balance time, cost, quality and safety.

Throughout the project lifecycle, as a Senior Project Engineer (Civil) you will be responsible for the planning and coordination of project technical scope elements, coordinating inputs with functional Subject Matter Experts (SME’s) and supply chain partners, to ensure the proper implementation of the scope for successful delivery of the overall project.

As the project progresses, you may be responsible for growing and leading a small team of Civil Project engineers and holding accountability for the outputs from your team.

You will be responsible for all aspects of the civil engineering scope, supporting the Project Manager in project engineering and contractor management activities. 

You will be aligned to the Engineering Function (Civil), mobilised as part of a project delivery team with responsibility to support a discipline or scope of work within a multidisciplinary construction project on behalf of the operations/project lead.

You will be responsible for delivering the assigned scope through agreed phases of the project life cycle to reach successful completion, deliver work that meets legislative and project requirements in accordance with Morgan Sindall standards all whilst meeting customer satisfaction criteria.

What Experience and Qualifications do you require?

Level 6 Bachelor of Engineering degree, class 2:1 or above in a Civil Engineering or similar related course, ideally accredited by a professional engineering institution such as ICE, IStructE, CIOB or similar.

An alternative Level 4, Civil Engineering related qualification with relevant experience and CPD training will also be considered. 

Specific training and experience in Civil Engineering but with wider multi-discipline understanding and appreciation required to participate in and manage a multi-disciplined team. 

Experience in project life-cycle inputs through gated processes with a construction and commissioning focus from Concept Design to Setting to Work and Handover to client operations teams.  

Experience of influencing engineering solutions from Concept / Early Design stage.

Contract / Sub-contract management experience, ideally in accordance with NEC form of contract.

You must be a UK sole national, with ability to obtain SC level Security Clearance, in compliance with our client’s security policy.

Technical experience in the following areas is desirable although not essential:

·       Infrastructure Projects

·       Power generation projects

·       Procurement and setting to work

·       Groundworks

·       Building works

You will need the ability to:  

· Apply innovation and be open to collaborative approaches whilst ensuring performance integrates with needs of the business.

· Assimilate large amounts of complex data whilst assessing risks and gains against set criteria to generate sound recommendations.

·Communicate to others major and complex issues, make the complicated understandable.

·Perform rigorous reviews of new events/situations and propose change to focus and recommend improvements.

·Understand how teams work and how to lead one, cutting across horizontal and other boundaries, taking a corporate perspective to remain effective when the situation is unclear, complicated or pressurised.

·Create a resource plan for an unfamiliar or potentially complex project, calling upon and managing diverse skills and methods to deliver results, implementing effective planning, problem-solving and decision making.

·Collect and collate information on the reality of the situation and options open to you, knowing where you stand and how to create a position to build a winnable case whilst anticipate the needs and concerns of others.

·Understand strengths and weaknesses of team members and work with them to good effect, understanding ambitions and managing expectations to grow a team that is aligned with the business objectives use of a wide range of development tools.

·Coach and mentor on the benefits of collaborative relationships.
