The Role:

We’re looking for an experienced Commercial Manager to take full responsibility for the commercial delivery of a £70m energy project involving new cable installation and substation works for SSEN. This is a significant, multi-year scheme that will progress through a two-stage process of design and construction.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Leading all commercial aspects of the project, from pre-construction through delivery.
  • Taking ownership of cost management, forecasting, reporting and financial controls in line with NEC Option E requirements.
  • Developing and managing a high-performing commercial team, providing leadership, support and guidance.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with the client and key stakeholders to ensure successful collaboration throughout the project.
  • Ensuring commercial risks and opportunities are actively managed in line with company processes.
  • Supporting business area leadership by contributing commercial expertise across other projects where required.

What we’re looking for:

  • Experience in the energy sector (preferred), ideally on large infrastructure projects.
  • In-depth knowledge and practical experience of NEC Option E contracts (essential).
  • Proven ability to manage and develop a commercial team.
  • Strong track record of delivering major projects (£50m+) through both design and construction phases.
  • Excellent client-facing skills with the ability to build and sustain long-term relationships.
  • Strong financial management, reporting and governance expertise.

About our Energy business unit

We have extensive experience in upgrading and replacing energy networks, delivering asset management for major UK energy companies and network operators.

Our transmission and distribution services involve the upgrading and replacement of electricity assets both above and below ground. Within the electricity sector we install and maintain assets, including excavation, laying and jointing of cables, (fluid filled and XLPe), substations and overhead line, new build, repair and refurbishment services.
