Our Energy Business Unit are delivering the backbone of tomorrow’s energy grid. We’re strengthening our capability to deliver major overhead line (OHL) and transmission projects across the UK.

Due to a promotion, we’re now seeking a Senior SHE Manager to provide leadership, advice, and support across our Energy business unit in relation to Safety, Health, Environment and Sustainability. You will play a key role in maintaining our high standards and driving forward our 100% Safe, Sustainability, and Perfect Delivery philosophy.

 

The Role:

  • Lead, advise, and support management teams, employees, and partners in achieving SHE goals.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety, health, and environmental legislation, industry standards, and Morgan Sindall policies.
  • Report accurately and effectively on SHE performance and support tenders/PQQ submissions.
  • Provide leadership and coordination to the business unit SHE function and team.
  • Prepare and present monthly/annual SHE reports and contribute to strategic reviews.
  • Monitor competencies of staff in collaboration with the Regional Training Coordinator, advising on training plans and managing the training budget.
  • Deliver SHE and Sustainability training to staff in line with requirements.
  • Provide technical advice on Temporary Works, Lifting Operations, Asbestos, and local compliance requirements.
  • Share best practice, lessons learned, and support the continuous improvement of SHEQ systems and culture.
  • Represent the business in client and industry forums, building strong relationships with stakeholders.

About You

You will have a proven track record in a SHE leadership role within construction or civil engineering and demonstrate the ability to drive compliance while promoting a positive safety culture.

Essential qualifications/experience:

  • NEBOSH Diploma/ NVQ Level 5 in Occupational Safety & Health (or equivalent).
  • NEBOSH General Certificate.
  • Extensive knowledge of health, safety, environmental legislation, and its application in a construction environment.
  • Strong experience in Lifting Operations, Logistics, and managing sites in complex environments.
  • Excellent organisational, leadership, and communication skills.

Desirable qualifications/experience:

  • NEBOSH Construction Certificate.
  • NEBOSH Fire Prevention and Risk Management Certificate.
  • Environmental Management Systems qualification.
  • Graduate IOSH or CMIOSH status.
  • General management qualification.

About our Energy business unit

We have extensive experience in upgrading and replacing energy networks, delivering asset management for major UK energy companies and network operators.

Our transmission and distribution services involve the upgrading and replacement of electricity assets both above and below ground. Within the electricity sector we install and maintain assets, including excavation, laying and jointing of cables, (fluid filled and XLPe), substations and overhead line, new build, repair and refurbishment services.
