Morgan Sindall Infrastructure is delivering energy transmission works at Harburn Substation in Central Scotland, supporting the UK’s transition to a low-carbon future.
Role Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Planner to join our Energy team. You will take ownership of developing, managing, and communicating detailed programmes, supporting both pre-contract and delivery phases. Working closely with operations, commercial, and design teams, you will ensure programmes are realistic, integrated, and deliverable, while also mentoring and supporting junior planners.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development of detailed programmes in Primavera P6
- Review drawings, undertake material take-offs, and calculate activity durations
- Review and integrate subcontractor programmes with Morgan Sindall programmes
- Produce, update, and communicate progress through programmes, narratives, and dashboards
- Support pre-contract, operations, and commercial teams with planning expertise
- Develop integrated design, procurement, construction, and commissioning programmes
- Support operational teams with lookahead programmes and collaborative planning workshops
- Identify and communicate programme risks, supporting commercial teams with change management
- Incorporate Compensation Events (CEs) into the programme and secure contractual entitlement
- Take ownership of the programme, ensuring clarity for clients, operational teams, and subcontractors
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
You will be an experienced planner with a strong background in major infrastructure projects, ideally in the energy sector.
You will bring:
- HND/Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction, or equivalent
- Experience in an operational role (e.g. Section Engineer/Sub-Agent) is desirable
- Proven planning experience with a main contractor (essential)
- Energy sector experience (preferred)
- Proficiency in Primavera P6 and MS Project
- Experience with time-chainage software (desirable)
- Strong understanding of NEC contracts and change management processes
- Experience developing CE programmes
- Ability to create Power BI dashboards (advantageous)

About the Energy Business Unit
We have extensive experience in upgrading and replacing energy networks, delivering asset management for major UK energy companies and network operators.
Our transmission and distribution services involve the upgrading and replacement of electricity assets both above and below ground. Within the electricity sector we install and maintain assets, including excavation, laying and jointing of cables, (fluid filled and XLPe), substations and overhead line, new build, repair and refurbishment services.
