Morgan Sindall Infrastructure is delivering works on the long-term SPT Framework, a 10-year portfolio of projects that will enhance and strengthen the electricity transmission network in Scotland.
Role Overview
We are seeking a Senior Operations Manager with a strong background in overhead line (OHL) transmission to support our growth and project delivery capability.
You will take ownership of OHL delivery within the framework, overseeing recruitment, standards, resource management, and project execution. This role requires leadership across multidisciplinary projects from conception through to completion, ensuring safe, sustainable, and high-quality delivery in line with customer requirements and Morgan Sindall standards.
As an ambassador for the business, you will also play a key role in client relationships, supply chain management, and identifying opportunities for growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead OHL delivery structure across the SPT Framework
- Manage recruitment, resource allocation, and development of OHL teams
- Oversee safe, sustainable, and profitable delivery of contracts in line with Morgan Sindall standards
- Ensure compliance with company management systems, policies, and customer requirements
- Manage multidisciplinary projects covering design, engineering, construction, handover, and commercial aspects
- Drive Perfect Delivery, embedding 100% Safe and continuous improvement principles
- Provide direction, motivation, and leadership to project delivery teams
- Develop and manage supply chain relationships, fostering effective partnerships
- Support tenders, key account management, and growth opportunities
- Implement risk and value management processes, ensuring risks and opportunities are identified and addressed
- Maintain high standards of HSEQ, acting as a champion for safety and quality across projects
- Create a strong team spirit and develop high-performing project teams
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
You will be an experienced senior leader in energy transmission with extensive knowledge of overhead line projects.
You will bring:
- A strong background in OHL transmission with demonstrable experience
- Experience managing and coordinating OHL lineworkers
- Knowledge and understanding of the SPT client
- Degree (or equivalent) in an engineering subject or significant delivery experience
- Chartered status (ICE, IET, CIWEM, or equivalent) – desirable
- Recognised health, safety, and environment qualification (IOSH, NEBOSH, or similar)
- Strong stakeholder management and client-facing skills
- Demonstrable knowledge of project management principles and experience leading multidisciplinary teams
- Extensive experience managing HSEQ in a regulated environment with a proven record of leadership
- Good commercial awareness, including experience evaluating value and variations in construction works

About the Energy Business Unit
We have extensive experience in upgrading and replacing energy networks, delivering asset management for major UK energy companies and network operators.
Our transmission and distribution services involve the upgrading and replacement of electricity assets both above and below ground. Within the electricity sector we install and maintain assets, including excavation, laying and jointing of cables, (fluid filled and XLPe), substations and overhead line, new build, repair and refurbishment services.
