About The Apprenticeship

About the project

Projects in the Nuclear sector cover a wide variety of scope from upgrading electrical distribution, bridge construction or pumping systems up to the construction of brand new facilities that are of significant national importance. Working on these key frameworks there is a constant pipeline of projects that will challenge and develop your skills and provide the opportunity to excel and progress in your career

What will you
be doing?

A Health and Safety apprentice may work singly or as part of a team providing advice and support to project delivery teams and other functions across the organisation. The role could be based on site in one location or may involve supporting a number of projects. The role will be partly office based and partly at the work front providing advice to the workforce on how to work without harming themselves or others. The Health and Safety apprentice will work with the management and delivery teams to advise on the statutory health, safety and environmental requirements as they affect the company’s operations. They will assist the management team in ensuring that the legal and company SHE requirements are implemented.

 

Day to day activities carried out by a Health and Safety apprentice could include:

Ensuring compliance with H&S legislation, Standards, Guidance and Approved Codes of Practice

Provision of advice and support to project management teams, employees and supply chain personnel

Reporting accurately and effectively on SHE matters

Carrying out appropriate monitoring and inspections at work locations

Ensuring compliance with management systems and associated arrangements

Delivery of site inductions, briefings and communicating safety messages to the workforce

Reviewing and advising on project documentation

Participate in the promotion of SHE programmes and schemes

Undertaking accident and incident investigations

Identifying workplace hazards and provision of advice on suitable control measures

Preparation of reports

What qualifications
do I require?

Five GCSE’s grades 9-4 (A*- C) including Math’s, English and a Science or Level 3 Apprenticeship. Minimum 6 grade in English preferred.

Ability to travel to remote locations.

Ideally some exposure to a construction/ engineering environment
