About the project

As a member of the Concrete Road Framework team, you will start your learning journey working on the section of the A11 between Spooner Row and the Tuttles Interchange, near Wymondham.

This 8km section of two-lane, dual carriageway is over 25 years old, and its concrete surface is now nearing the end of its working life. A new carriageway is required with a surface that is flexible, providing a new modern road that will last for decades to come, and one that will be easier and quicker for us to repair in future

What will you
be doing?

 

We have a fantastic opportunity within our Highways business for an ambitious and talented Laboratory Technician Apprentice to work on the Concrete Road Framework projects

We require a Laboratory Technician Apprentice to work both in the materials laboratory and on site, taking part and supervising the implementation of inspection and test plans and the contract specific appendices 

  • undertaking materials testing, compliant with UKAS requirements and the relevant British/European Standards,
  • supporting the laboratory technicians in completing laboratory and site testing
  • ensuring all data from testing is captured accurately
  • ensuring all processes undertaken adhere to H&S regulations

 

What qualifications
do you require?

Minimum five GCSE’s grades 9-4 (A*- C) including Maths, English and Science or Level 3 Apprenticeship

 Ability to travel to remote locations

Ideally some exposure to a construction/ engineering environment
